1、 Material selection: Simulate the visual and tactile experience of a real piano
Main frame material
Using matte textured resin to print the piano body, this material can perfectly present the subtle reflective characteristics of the piano paint surface, while avoiding the cheap reflective feeling of ordinary PLA plastic
The piano keys are printed separately using black and white dual color resin, and the black keys are enhanced with carbon fiber containing dark gray resin for texture contrast
Detail enhancing materials
The sheet metal components are made of copper plated PLA material, and the aging effect of brass is simulated through post oxidation treatment
The strings are hand assembled with 0.3mm diameter phosphor bronze wire, which can maintain visible tension even at a size of 20cm
2、 3D Printing Technology: Balancing Accuracy and Art
Split printing strategy
Disassemble the model into 12 core components (piano cover, body, keyboard cover, pedal system, etc.), with the minimum printing component being a 1.2mm music stand support foot
Using a 0.08mm layer height to print key curved areas, achieving a smooth transition of the piano body curve
Special structural treatment
The piano keys adopt a movable design, achieving a simulated pressing sensation of 3mm stroke through a micro hinge structure
The open piano cover is printed with proportional soundboard texture inside, and even when zoomed in to 20cm, the wood texture direction can still be seen
3、 Post processing: The Transformation from Mechanical Components to Artworks
Four step method for surface finishing
Fill the layer pattern: Fill the joint with UV resin, and after UV curing, polish it with 800 grit sandpaper
Primer treatment: After spraying gray primer, use a cotton pad dipped in graphite powder to wipe the protruding wood texture
Piano paint simulation: alternate spraying of 5 layers of semi gloss varnish and black matte paint, imitating the unique "deep pool" paint effect of a grand piano
Metal parts aging: Dip a cotton swab in copper green solution and apply it to the pedal hinge to create natural oxidation marks
Detail enhancement process
Hand draw the brand logo with a 000 pen and complete a 0.5mm size hot stamping lettering under a microscope
Draw ivory cracks on the side of the piano keys with a pencil, imitating the natural aging characteristics of antique pianos
The internal soundboard is pasted with imitation parchment phonetic symbols, which appear and disappear through the gaps between the strings
