Case study of sand table model production for urban landmark building clusters
This project is a sand table model for showcasing urban landmark buildings, focusing on the integrated presentation of super high-rise office buildings, characteristic exhibition centers, and surrounding supporting buildings, restoring the visual texture and architectural details of modern urban skylines, achieving over 90% of real-life restoration, and becoming the core visual carrier for urban planning display, real estate marketing, and commercial promotion.
1、 Material selection
The main building adopts ABS sheet, acrylic and model specific glass materials, balancing structural strength and transparent display effect; The exterior of the super high-rise building is made of frosted acrylic and LED light guiding materials, simulating the transparency effect of nighttime lighting; The dome of the featured exhibition center adopts a composite shape of fiberglass and curved ABS board, restoring the curved contour; Wear resistant PVC sheets and simulated ground stickers are used for roads and venues to restore the effect of urban road paving; The green area is based on simulated turf, combined with fine miniature trees and grass powder to create a natural ecological scene; The lighting system adopts built-in LED beads and flexible light strips to ensure uniform brightness and natural color rendering.
2、 Production process
Base construction: take high-density foam board as the base, divide the building area, road area and green area through cutting and leveling, to ensure the overall layout is coordinated and the proportion is accurate.
Super high-rise production: Cut and splice ABS boards into the main body of the building, and restore the floor lines and eaves details through precision polishing and bonding; The exterior doors and windows are made of highly transparent acrylic with precise cutting and pasting, simulating the texture of a glass curtain wall; The top equipment area is assembled with small components to restore details such as satellite antennas and ventilation towers, highlighting the skyline features of the building.
Featured Exhibition Center Production: For curved structures such as domes, ABS boards are used for layered hot bending or hand carved shaping to restore the smoothness of the curved surface; The internal structure is constructed through layered bonding, and the spatial hierarchy is strengthened through color separation spraying.
Road and landscape construction: laying PVC road panels, accurately drawing lane markings, zebra crossings, and road signs, and natural transition treatment at the edges; Paste simulated grass, plant micro green plants according to density distribution, and match them with street lights, roadside trees and other facilities to enrich the scene hierarchy of the block.
3、 Post processing and coloring
Adopting multi-layer spraying technology, the main body of the building is based on light gray and dark gray, and the layering of the facade is enhanced through color separation spraying; The glass curtain wall and window area retain a transparent texture, with some areas treated with light blue and light gray gradients to simulate reflective effects; The dome of the exhibition center adopts characteristic color schemes such as red and silver gray, highlighting its iconic features through spraying and texture treatment; The road and ground are sprayed with matte gray to avoid reflective interference; Natural transition colors are used in green areas to make the scene more realistic. The surface is sprayed with transparent protective varnish to improve the durability and anti-aging performance of the model, while retaining the delicate texture of the material.
4、 Lighting integration and detail optimization
Embedded with miniature LED lights, arranged along the exterior facade, building outline, and road edges of the super high-rise building, simulating the transparent atmosphere of urban night scenes and enhancing the immersive display experience; Comprehensively polish and adjust the model, repair and splice gaps, correct building spacing and landscape distribution, and ensure overall proportion coordination; Clean up surface impurities to make the appearance neat and uniform. The final product, through the synergy of materials, craftsmanship, and lighting, fully presents the planned layout and modern urban style of the urban landmark building complex, meeting the needs of planning display, marketing negotiation, and commercial promotion, and gaining high recognition from customers.
