Production plan for proportion model of high fidelity energy storage cabinet

1、 Project objectives and overall plan

The purpose of this plan is to create an appearance display model of an energy storage cabinet with a scale of 1:10, with a target fidelity of not less than 90%. The model will focus on presenting the appearance structure, material texture, color, and industrial details of the physical object. The core of the solution lies in adopting a process of "piece production, modular assembly, and specialized painting" to ensure the accuracy and realism of the model.

The overall production process is divided into three stages:

Design and material preparation stage: 3D modeling and drawing output, material procurement and inspection.

Core production stage: main structure production → detail component processing → surface pretreatment.

Painting and final assembly stage: primer spraying → color separation coating → aging texture treatment → final assembly and effect fixation.

2、 Detailed phased production plan

Phase 1: Design and Material Preparation

3D modeling and drawing disassembly: Based on physical measurement data, conduct 1:10 scale 3D modeling. After modeling, disassemble the overall model into individual machinable part drawings, including side panels, top panels, door panels, grilles, etc., and label all dimensions, assembly relationships, and material requirements.

Material preparation:

Main structural material: Select 5mm thick high-quality white acrylic board for making the six sides of the cabinet. Its advantages are stable size, smooth cutting, and heavy texture.

Internal skeleton material: 3mm × 3mm ABS square tube is selected, combined with ABS corner code to construct an internal support frame, ensuring overall rigidity.

Panel and detail materials: 1mm-2mm thick ABS board is selected for making door panels, decorative cover plates, etc., as it is easy to cut, polish, and bond.

Special detail materials:

Cooling grille: Purchase finished plastic etched sheet grille to ensure the regularity and precision of the mesh.

Door handles and warning signs: Made with high-precision photosensitive resin 3D printing to perfectly reproduce complex three-dimensional shapes.

Observation window: Use 0.5mm ultra-thin transparent acrylic board to simulate glass.

Phase 2: Core Production

Main structure fabrication plan:

Skeleton construction: According to the drawings, accurately cut ABS square tubes, use model glue to combine with right angle fixtures, and bond the internal cubic frame. Use a square ruler throughout the process to verify that all angles are 90 degrees.

Cabinet closure: Glue the laser cut acrylic side panels, top panels, and bottom panels to the frame. Use specialized acrylic adhesive to achieve seamless bonding through capillary action. All visible external seams require preparation for subsequent polishing processes.

Detail component processing plan:

Door panel production: On the back of the ABS door panel, use a hook knife to accurately carve a concave line with a depth of about 0.2mm to simulate the splicing seam of a real door panel.

Grille and handle installation: Drill holes in the preset position of the door panel, and fix the etched plate grille and 3D printed handle with glue from the back to ensure that the front is clean and free of glue marks.

Display screen simulation: adopting a layered structure: the bottom layer is stickers printed with false UI patterns, the middle layer is black acrylic board to simulate the screen off state, and the outermost layer is covered with cut and formed transparent acrylic board as glass.

Surface pretreatment (key step): After all components are bonded, thoroughly polish the entire model.

Fill soil and joints: Use a model to fill all joints and defects with soil.

Step polishing: Use 400 grit, 800 grit, and 1200 grit sandpaper in sequence to polish, from coarse to fine, until all soil filling areas are completely smooth with the surrounding plane, and there is no difference in touch.

Phase Three: Painting and Final Assembly

Pre coating treatment: Use alcohol swabs to thoroughly wipe the model, remove oil stains and polishing dust, and ensure paint adhesion.

Spray primer: Apply gray water-based putty as a whole. The plan requires the application of primer, which serves to unify the base color, conduct secondary inspections for surface defects, and serve as a high-quality substrate for the topcoat.

Color separation coating scheme:

Main color spraying: Use the "thin coating multi-layer" method to spray the main color (such as equipment gray). Spray a very thin layer of paint every time, wait for 10-15 minutes for the surface to dry before proceeding to the next spray. Usually, 3-4 layers can achieve perfect coverage and effectively prevent sagging.

Auxiliary color and identification processing:

Covering spray method: used for large-area auxiliary color blocks (such as yellow warning strips). After the main color paint layer is completely cured (24 hours later), use low viscosity masking tape and liquid masking solution for precise masking, and then spray auxiliary colors.

Water sticker method: used for complex brand logos or small logos. Print the pattern on a water sticker, cut it and place it in clean water, slide it onto the surface of the model, adjust the position, absorb the moisture, and finally spray a softener to make it perfectly fit the surface contour.

Aging and texture expression scheme (enhancing realism):

Stain washing: Dilute a large amount of dark brown oil paint and apply it to the entire surface of the model, allowing it to naturally flow into the gaps and grilles. When half dry, dip a cotton swab in solvent and wipe the convex surface along the structural direction, leaving only the pigment at the concave line to enhance the shadow and layering.

Dry sweeping: Dip a small amount of light gray or silver model paint with a flat head pen, almost dry it on paper, and gently sweep over protrusions such as door handles, edges, rivets, etc. to create natural wear and metallic texture.

Final assembly and protection:

Perform final assembly and install all independently processed components.

Spray matte transparent protective paint as a whole. This step is crucial as it can completely eliminate the reflection of plastic and paint, giving the model a realistic matte texture of industrial equipment, and permanently protecting the underlying paint layer and aging effect.
