Case study on the production of miniature models of hotels in tourist areas
1、 Project Overview
This project is a miniature model of a resort hotel in a tourist area, with a scale of 1:50 and dimensions of 1.2m × 0.8m. The design concept is "modern simplicity+natural ecology", which aims to restore the main building, waterfront landscape, leisure facilities, and surrounding road network system of the hotel. The model adopts a modular manufacturing process, integrating mechanical transmission and lighting systems, vividly s
howcasing the spatial layout and vacation atmosphere of hotels in the tourist area.

2、 Production process
(1) Preliminary planning and design
CAD scheme design
Based on the hotel architectural drawings and landscape planning, draw a 1:50 scale construction blueprint to clarify the four major functional zones of buildings, roads, water systems, and greenery. Emphasize the location of the glass curtain wall, the direction of the water feature, and the lighting wiring plan.
Material List Development
The main structure is made of ABS engineering plastic board (thickness 2-3mm), transparent components are made of acrylic board, blue translucent resin is used for water features, and simulated grass and miniature landscape trees are used for green areas.
(2) Main building production
Wall processing
Laser cutting ABS board to make building walls, joined by mortise and tenon structure, with an error controlled within 0.5mm
Embed 3mm transparent acrylic board in the window opening area and paste yellow semi transparent paper to simulate the lighting effect
Roof and Details
Adopting sloping roof design, using PVC board hot bending forming, covered with simulated asphalt tile stickers
A sunshade made of green ABS board is installed at the entrance, which can be opened and closed through micro hinges
(3) Landscape system construction
Hard pavement
The road network adopts gray PVC board to carve lane lines, and paste frosted stickers to simulate asphalt texture
1:50 scale imitation stone floor tiles (3D printed prefabricated) are laid in the square area
Water system construction
Excavate landscape river channel grooves, fill with blue translucent resin, and lay LED light strips at the bottom to achieve dynamic water flow effect
White ABS board laser engraved arch bridge components, assembled and sprayed with matte white paint
Greening configuration
Lay 2mm thick simulated turf and use different densities to distinguish between lawn and shrub areas
Implant micro landscape trees with a height of 3-5cm (made of sponge material dyed)
(4) Atmosphere creation and decoration
Dynamic elements
Configure a 1:50 scale vacation tourist model (PVC injection molding), distributed at nodes such as swimming pool areas and rest pavilions
A 3D printed white sedan model is placed in the parking lot, with the front of the car facing uniformly
Lighting system
Install miniature LED light groups inside the building and achieve night lighting effects through circuit boards
Install 0.8mm diameter LED street lights along the road, and connect them in series to a 12V power supply
Identification system
Create acrylic signage and laser engrave text such as "Visitor Center" and "Pool Area"
Wooden rest pavilion hanging imitation wood grain signs to enhance the narrative of the scene
3、 Technical difficulties and solutions
Water landscape translucent treatment
By mixing 0.1mm glass microspheres into the resin layer, the diffuse reflection effect of light is improved, solving the problem of uneven light transmission in simple resin
Stability of building structure
Adopting a composite structure of "bottom counterweight+internal steel frame", the base is filled with gypsum to increase stability, and the overall load-bearing capacity reaches 5kg
Installation of micro components
Use 0.1mm diameter copper wire to make the umbrella frame, and use tweezers and UV glue to achieve precise positioning
4、 Achievement display
The overall model presents a modern vacation style of hotels in the tourist area, with harmonious proportions between architecture and natural landscapes, and a lighting system that can simulate day and night changes. Through detailed depictions such as yellow sunshades, waterfront trails, and recreational crowds, the hotel's operational scene is vividly recreated. This model has been applied to the tourism area planning exhibition center, becoming an important carrier for tourists to understand hotel layout.
